Microsoft sure know how to whet a gamer’s appetite, right? Well they’ve certainly got what it takes with more than a staggering 24 MILLION download hits since the launch of XBOX LIVE in 2005, 5 million of which were recorded solely during their promotion of a week’s free XBOX LIVE Gold membership following this year’s E3 conference. Such was the sheer volume of downloads that the servers were threatening to have a tantrum, but mercifully they held their ground. And guess what was at the top of the download list?
Yep, you guessed it – the Halo 3 Game Trailer, announced during Microsoft’s pre-E3 conference and available shortly afterwards for downloading via XBOX LIVE marketplace. It even outdid three playable demos of other games, so it’s pretty safe to say that Halo 3 is set to cause quite a stir when it is finally released later on in 2007.
